McGee Salvage specializes in reclaiming hardwood flooring from homes, commercial buildings, and gymnasiums. We take pride in our comprehensive salvaging process developed over the last 30+ years.

Material is removed without damaging the original tongue-and-groove, de-nailed and the edges hand scraped to ensure a gap free re-installation.

When you purchase flooring from McGee we are happy to recommend one of the many local-installers who have in-depth knowledge of installing and re-finishing reclaimed materials. Once your floor is installed in its new home, the old finish will be sanded off and then re-finished to your liking. Your floor not only looks brand new, it comes with a unique story and the material was saved from hitting the local landfill. Additionally, salvaged material typically comes in longer length structures than you can buy today, helping provide for a beautiful end product.

McGee Salvage also reclaims the highest quality beams from buildings that are being demolished in the Pacific Northwest. Salvaged beams can then be milled into flooring up to 8” wide.  We provide additional customized pre-finish services including hand-distressing, wire-brushing, and custom stain creations and application. Beams can also be kept dimensional and used for aesthetic or structural purposes, as well.

What are some benefits to using reclaimed material?

a

The salvaged material we specialize in was originally moved by hand, instead of boxed and palleted, as it is today, so it is often made up of a much longer length structure than newly milled hardwoods.

a

Reclaimed flooring is full of character that new hardwood flooring often lacks as new hardwoods are milled from trees planted and harvested in a relatively short time period. This shortened time period does not allow the time for unique character to develop within the timber. The floors we are dedicated at salvaging were milled 30, 40 or even 50+ years ago from timber that had hundreds of years of growth and time for beautiful character to develop!

Every floor has a history, making your floor unique and no one else will have your same floor.

Help our environment by keeping useable material out of the landfill! Every year hundreds of thousands of pounds of useable (and beautiful) wood products are sent to the landfill instead of reclaimed for new use. We are trying to change that, one board at a time!
